Fleet management vehicle fuel level monitoring Solution
Pain Points:
Fuel consumption is a major cost in fleet operations, and unlike other fixed costs such as tolls and insurance, it can be reduced through optimized management.
In some fleets, drivers siphoning off fuel creates a cost issue that is hard to ignore. That's why preventing fuel theft has become a key challenge in fleet management.
Below are the main concern questions when the clients evaluate suppliers:
1. Which GPS tracker model is stable and durable?
The clients don't want to install and unstall the GPS tracker frequently. Because after installation, the vehicle may run to remote area thousand kilometers away. If the GPS tracker is not stable, they need send technician to check the GPS tracker devices, this is obvious cost. Clients need the GPS tracker which is very stable, also durable. After installation, they don't need send the technician to check. However, on the market, there are many GPS tracker options with different prices.
2. Which fuel level sensor to select?
In the real life, the clients need the fuel sensor with excellent quality. This is one of special reason behind, the driver might try to damage the fuel sensor to avoid anti-fuel theft. If the fuel sensor quality record is not good, the superviser is difficult to know the damaged fuel sensor is product quality reason or human sabotage factor.
The client aslo need the fuel sensor tube length is flexible, can be cut off according to the actual fuel tank height. During their business negociation with the end users, it is possible no chance to get the accurate fuel tank dimension data. One cutable fuel sensor is good for business quotation and stock management, also can cover most vehicle fuel tank types from the truck to small cars fuel tanks.
An independent fuel sensor which is compatible with the third-party GPS tracker models welcome by the clients too. They may face the situation like the end-users already have the existing GPS tracker, need add the fuel monitoring feature with external fuel sensor. Or for some projects they must use the GPS tracker from limited GPS tracker suppliers.
3. Is the tracking platform fuel level monitoring features relaible and enough for our business?
One fact is surprising to the clients: most GPS tracking platforms, the fuel monitoring fuel theft and the fuel filling report is not reliable, the fuel comsumption report or statistics result also is not reliable. The reason is, due to the server calculation resource limitation, the tracking platform doesn't use continuous historical fuel data for computation for fuel theft and fuel filling reports, just calculate the fuel difference between start time A and end time B points, not a smoothed value derived from continuous data.
However, the fuel level report is reliable in most tracking platforms.
4. Will the supplier provide reliable support?
The fuel level monitoring solution for the logistics fleet managment need technical support.
Why? Because the GPS tracker, the fuel sensor, the tracking platform, all three parts are associated with the fuel level monitoring performance.
Addtionally, even all settings are correct, interpreting fuel sensor data also requires experience.
For example, how do you know the fuel small drop is the actual fuel theft or just the normal fuel fluctuation? You can't get the answer only according to the fuel level graph, still need check the power supply voltage, ACC on/off status, speed, the vehicle's geographical environment (uphill/downhill), neighboring data points, the data change trend, how fast the data changed, the data report interval, etc.
5. How to start, if the installation is difficult, can I have the clear guide?
The clients want to start the fuel monitoring business but without clear installation guide.
So they don't know if the solution really works even after tried.
